ALICE SEAGREN, MINNESOTA’S COMMISSIONER OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, MEETS WITH KIDS TO THE RESCUE™ FOUNDERS

St. Paul, Minnesota, 1/3/06 - Kids To The Rescue™ (KTTR) founders Audrey Feltz and Rachel Floeder were honored to meet with Mrs. Alice Seagren, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), to discuss their “for kids by kids” relief project. This meeting provided an opportunity for the girls to personally thank the Commissioner for showing her tremendous support of their project by featuring Kids To The Rescue™ on the Minnesota’s Department of Education website.

When asked how this project was so fortunate to have earned her support, Commissioner Seagren replied, “After Hurricane Katrina, the telephones in the Department of Education offices were ringing non-stop with ideas from people regarding how to help those in the South. This project and its website appeared very well thought-out and was designed to be simple to implement in the school systems. Additionally, knowing The Salvation Army had assumed the role of collecting and then redistributing the funds back to the affected children added even more stability to this endeavor.”

The Commissioner’s input was invaluable in recommending KTTR reach out to the school children of the United States through State and National Principal associations and the National Parent Teacher Association.
