KIDS TO THE RESCUE HITS HOME WITH TWO NEW ORLEANS AREA SCHOOLS TAKING THE KIDS TO THE RESCUE™ CHALLENGE
Luling, Louisiana, 1/12/06: After searching the internet to find ways people were coming together to help the survivors of the Hurricane disasters, Maria, a mother of three school-aged children from Luling, LA, approximately 23 miles southwest of New Orleans, came across the Kids To The Rescue™ (KTTR) website. Even though her immediate family was relatively unaffected, she wanted her children and their schools to help the schoolchildren of Southeastern Louisiana who still need a tremendous amount of assistance.

After downloading the “school launch kit” and other poster-making materials from the website, she set out to assist her children in implementing a KTTR collection. Her daughter Rachel, age 7 and son Paul, age10, were the lead “Rescue Kids” for Mimosa Park Elementary (grades 1-3) and Lakewood Elementary (grades 4-6) schools. With the support of their school principals and the help of their mother and other supporters, the KTTR collection proved to be a tremendous success. The children learned a valuable lesson: that many people coming together for a common and very worthwhile goal really can make a difference!
The mothers of the founders of KTTR, Audrey Feltz and Rachel Floeder, were absolutely shocked to be contacted through their website by someone so close to the disasters. The very fact that this mother, who works in downtown New Orleans and has friends and family who have lost their homes, still felt there was more she could do to help the youngest, and often overlooked victims of the disasters, says so much about this person.
